How a love for rescue turned into something bigger than a thrift store.

If you’re new here — hi. I’m Erica, owner of The Chatty Cat Cafe and now… The Chatty Cat Closet.

And before either of these businesses existed, there were animals.

For years, rescue has been a huge part of my life.

Long before coffee, clothing racks, and website launches, I spent years fostering, helping animals find homes, coordinating care, fundraising, and doing whatever needed done to help the next one. Since 2019, I’ve personally been part of helping hundreds of animals through fostering and rescue efforts.

When we opened The Chatty Cat Cafe in 2023, the dream was never just to sell coffee.

The goal was to create something sustainable.

A place where people could gather, where adoptable cats could be seen in a cage-free environment, where local shelters and foster based rescues had another avenue for placement, and where every latte, every reservation, and every visit helped make rescue possible in a different way.

And something incredible happened.

People showed up.

They adopted cats.

They brought friends.

They celebrated birthdays here.

They became regulars.

They believed in what we were building.

But if you’ve ever worked in rescue, you know the reality: the need never stops.

There are always more cats needing homes. More vet bills. More supplies. More fosters. More ways our community needs support.

That’s where The Chatty Cat Closet came in.

The Closet was created as a second experience under the Chatty Cat family — something fun, affordable, and community-driven that gives people another reason to visit, explore, and support local.

But we wanted it to feel different.

Not a crowded thrift store.

Not fast fashion.

Not digging through endless bins. (Although - we do love to do our own epic bin sales ;D)

Instead, we built a boutique-style shopping experience filled with hand-selected clothing, accessories, home décor, and hidden gems — because we believe secondhand can feel exciting.

Every week brings new finds. New stories. New opportunities to discover something you love.

And while you shop, sip coffee next door, visit the cats, or support our little businesses — you become part of something bigger than a transaction.

You become part of a community that believes small businesses, rescue, and connection can exist together. So whether you found us through the cats, the coffee, the closet… or you’re just discovering us for the first time—
